EMR Certification Renewal

​​​​​​Instructions for EMR Certification Renewal - Current EMRs or Lapse of less than 6 Months 

  1. Go online at https://actonline.saccounty.net and apply.  Online application instructions found hereDO NOT create a new account if you have previously created one to do an application.​ If you have difficulties logging in, please call our office or the Sacramento County Help Desk (916) 874-5555 for assistance. 

  2. EMR renewal requirements may be completed 6 months prior to the current certification expiration date. To renew certification as an EMR in Sacramento County, the applicant must complete and upload the following:​

  3. 12 hours of Continuing Education OR an approved EMR Refresher Course. CE courses are required to be no less than 1.0 hour(0.5 hour courses cannot be counted)​. Upoad CE certificates to application.

  4. Skills competency verification form, with original signatures.

  5. Government issued photo identification (Driver's License, Passport, Military ID).

  6. Current CPR for the Healthcare Provider card or equivalent.

  7. Current or expired Sacramento County EMR card.

  8. Supplemental Certification Application (if prior convictions) and all documents that pertain to prior conviction(s).

  9. ​Have your employment verified by your chosen employer (an email will be sent to your employer to which they need to respond in order to verify your current employment).​

  10. Pay the required fees.

  • Once the above has been submitted, please allow 1-2 weeks for your application to be processed. 

  • If you need assistance with your application, please bring all documentation to our office during counter hours and we will assist you. Location and hours information is available on the SCEMSA Homepage

​Cost for EMR Renewal

  • $25.00 SCEMSA application fee (non-refundable).

  • $30.00 Late fee (within 30 days of expiration).

  • $30.00 Expedited Processing fee (if requested).

Fees may be paid by credit card online or with exact cash at the SCEMSA office.​
