Sacramento County Public Health Laboratory provides both routine and specialized testing services for the detection, control, and prevention of communicable diseases in the County and surrounding catchment area. As a key resource for information, the laboratory consults with health care providers in the community on diseases of public health significance. It also facilitates the interaction between the health care community and state and federal agencies for unusual and exotic diseases. The laboratory plays a key role in public safety by providing emergency testing support to first responders and Northern California clinical laboratories for agents of bioterrorism.
