Childhood Illness and Injury Prevention Program

The goal of the Childhood Illness and Injury Prevention Program (ChIIPP) is to reduce the number of preventable injuries, diseases, and poisonings among children under 14 years old through:

  • Education
  • Promotion of health and safety practices

Services Provided

  • Public awareness campaigns
  • Educational materials and resources on child health and safety
  • Car seat safety inspection referrals
  • Child Passenger Safety Violator program 

Program Staff

The program consists of a Senior Health Program Coordinator and a Health Educator.  Staff participates in various meetings, including:

  •  Safe Kids Greater Sacramento 

To Qualify

  • Parents to children 0-14 years old
  • Foster care parents
  • Head Start Program and preschool staff
  • Health care providers
  • Emergency response providers
  • Family Services and social workers
  • Childcare providers
  • Home visitors who work with families of young children
  • Public Health Nurses who work with families of young children​
