Sober Living Environments
Sober Living Environments are cooperative living arrangement where all residences are recovering from a substance use (alcohol and or other drugs) disorder and are committed to be alcohol/drug-free while living on the premises. Some facilities are set-up for individuals, 18 years of age and older, and other facilities are family-oriented in which minor children can live on the premises with their recovering parent/guardian. Service providers foster personal growth and the development of tools and skills to actualize long-term recovery. In-house recovery meetings are conducted and individuals are also highly encouraged to participate in off-site 12-step meetings (i.e., Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotic Anonymous) as well as outpatient treatment as medically indicated.
