Cultural Competence and Ethnic Services

Sacramento County Behavioral Health Services (BHS) Core Purpose is Enriching Communities to Thrive through Accessible, Equitable Behavioral Health Care.  We envision a community where all Sacramento County residents thrive and have equitable access to optimal behavioral and emotional wellness. By racial equity we mean closing the gaps so that race does not predict one’s success, while also improving outcomes for all.

We achieve this through the integration of Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) standards and embedding of equity principles across all Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives and behavioral health services.  We identify and address cultural and linguistic service gaps.  We analyze outcomes by cultural demographics to ensure equitable service delivery.  We provide training and coaching to build provider capacity in cultural responsiveness. We support community co-production and seek community input to inform and shape our work.
