The Adult Psychiatric Support Services (APSS) Clinic is Sacramento’s county-operated adult outpatient mental health facility. APSS provides transitional recovery-based services including psychiatric evaluation and medication management; group and individual counseling, integrated mental health and substance abuse treatment, peer support services, and case management/ linkage to additional community supports. 

Who can receive services at the APSS Clinic?

The APSS clinic serves adult residents of Sacramento County who have Medi-Cal or are Medi-Cal eligible and meet criteria for specialty mental health services. This criteria includes having a mental health diagnosis and a degree of functional impairment and will be assessed at intake.


Accessing the APSS Clinic

Phone: An individual seeking help can call Behavioral Health Services-Screening and Coordination (BHS-SAC; formerly Access) at (916) 875-1055 and request a screening for mental health services.

In-person: Sacramento county has adopted a "no wrong door" policy in order to remove obstacles to behavioral health services. Anyone seeking services can walk into APSS or any of the county-contracted outpatient clinics during walk-in hours and request an assessment. Referral: APSS accepts referrals from other outpatient providers, as well as inpatient and correctional facilities.​​

We are located on the same campus as the Mental Health Treatment Center (the County-operated inpatient facility), and the Mental Health Urgent Care Clinic. Our neighborhood is culturally reflective of Sacramento's diverse populations.
