Obesity Prevention Program


Description

​​​​​​​The goal of the Sacramento County Obesity Prevention Program (SCOPP) is to lower obesity rates in Sacramento County. The program focuses on promoting and providing support to:

  • Increase consumption of healthy foods and beverages
  • Reduce consumption of less healthy foods and beverages
  • Increase access to healthy foods and beverages
  • Increase physical activity

The program works with community-based organizations to create impact at multiple levels by using policy, systems, and environmental approach. Program components include training and technical assistance, collaborative efforts, and education.

SCOPP is currently funded by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Nutrition Education and Obesity Prevention Branch (NEOPB) via Cal Fresh Healthy Living grant formerly known as SNAP-Ed.
