​SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Sacramento County Department of Health and Human Services/Division of Behavioral Health Services (DHHS/DBHS) recently introduced three new social media channels in support of the “Mental Illness: It’s not always what you think” project, which officially launched on Jan. 21. The channels will be used to promote mental health resources and news within Sacramento County.

WHAT: The following social media channels are live and will be used to help inform Sacramento County residents of available mental health resources, stories of hope and program updates:
• Twitter handle - @StopStigmaSacramento,
• Facebook group page – www.facebook.com/StopStigmaSacramento
• YouTube account – www.youtube.com/user/StopStigmaSacramento

The “Mental Illness: It’s not always what you think” project will focus on:
• Dispelling myths and stereotypes about mental illness
• Promoting positive beliefs and attitude about living with mental illness, hope and recovery
• Promoting messages of wellness, hope and recovery

RESOURCES: County representatives are available to speak to the mental health resources that are available within the county and general mental illness facts, as well as the goals of this project.
