Mental Health Treatment Center (MHTC)

The Mental Health Treatment Center (MHTC) is a County-operated locked mental health facility. It provides short-term psychiatric care and crisis stabilization for people experiencing a serious mental health emergency. 

The Mental Health Treatment Center (MHTC) includes two programs located within the same facility. They work together to stabilize individuals and support safe transitions to other mental health services, when appropriate.

Crisis Stabilization

The Mental Health Treatment Center (MHTC) provides 23-hour crisis stabilization services for all ages. Individuals meeting eligibility criteria are referred to the MHTC via emergency departments, the Mental Health Urgent Care Clinic, law enforcement, County Jail, and community providers. MHTC also provides crisis triage to those who walk in seeking services. For more information, please call us at (916) 875-1000.
